Created as a pre-qualifying program for the prestigious BOMA International TOBY® Awards, the TOBY Choice Awards allow property managers to compete locally, highlighting best practices and achievements in building operations, sustainability, and community impact.
What Are the TOBY® Awards?
The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY®) Awards are among the most esteemed awards in commercial real estate, recognizing high performance and excellence in building management. The competition unfolds in three levels, starting at the local association level, and extending to regional and international stages. Local level entrants require nomination by BOMA Miami-Dade, which the TOBY Choice Awards determine.
TOBY CHOICE AWARDS FOR MIAMI-DADE PROPERTIES
In 2024, to compete in the BOMA International TOBY® competition local level, South Florida entrants must first win the local TOBY Choice Award.
This is streamlined, pre-qualifying competition preparing entrants with criteria based on BOMA International standards, minus some requirements like the BOMA 360 certification and written narratives.
The TOBY Choice Awards honor properties through a rigorous site inspection and presentation, where judges assess:
- Life Safety, Security, & Risk Management
- Training & Education
- Energy Efficiency & Environmental Sustainability
- Tenant Relations & Community Involvement
